Melbourne Rd Art & Canvas Stretching Company (MRACS) began it’s 33-yr long journey from humble beginnings as St Kilda Art Supplies. Established in1992 by current owner Fiona McDonald, it became a local institution serving Melbourne’s eclectic and brilliant artistic community for many years. A couple of epic moves – firstly to Prahan and then to Newport, MRACS has settled into a beautiful factory at 11/15 Earsdon St, Yarraville 3013.
We specialize in canvas stretching and beautiful bespoke Floating frames. We also supply art materials, rolls of canvas, linen, and canvas by the metre for institutions and organizations such as the Torch.

Many of the beautiful paintings we stretch come from remote Australian Indigenous art communities and are exhibited through specialist galleries, such as Everywhen Artspace and Vivian Anderson.
Other great works are created by Indigenous artists, currently incarcerated and post-release while supported through the wonderful work of the Torch and the Statewide Indigenous Arts In Prisons and Community Program (SIAPC).
A highlight of our year is the annual Confined exhibition, showcasing the incredible talent of The Torch artists. Being part of their creative journey is deeply rewarding, and we are proud to contribute to such an inspiring organization.
We especially enjoy stretching the works collected by customers while travelling locally and overseas.
